Minis: Beholder

Part of a series called Miniatures.

Another classic D&D monster that I couldn’t not paint.

To get more contrast in the scales, I made a solid black wash. I wanted something more Mignola-esque, but it didn’t quite turn out that way. Next time I’ll start with a black base instead.

I was quite worried about the eyes, but they weren’t all that hard to do.

The dark contrast is more visible on the back. Four of the tentacles can be replaced with versions that are firing eye beams. I didn’t glue them in, but they got pretty stuck in there after applying varnish.

Quite happy with the mouth. Just wish I had gloss varnish for it; that would’ve been perfect.
